FAQs

Q. How much does it cost?
A. We get this very general question often, and the answer always starts with… It depends.  In most cases, the service fee is $100. Then add the cost of the mailbox and post. If staining and numbers are desired, then add those costs as well. our general services fees can be found on our Service Fees page. The prices of our most popular mailboxes can be found on our Products page

Q. Can you install a mailbox that I purchase from somewhere else?
A. Yes, If you purchase something online or from a home improvement store, we can probably install it. In most cases our service fee is $100. There are some mailboxes that require special assembly or installation. These are rare, but do charge a higher fee. We generally ask for the name and model to help us determine the install requirements.

Q. Do you do brick or stone mailboxes?
A. No, you would have to contact a Brick Mason.

Q. Do you use concrete?
A. Very rarely. We use gravel as the stabilizer in the ground. It holds just as well as concrete and allows water to drain away from the post, extending its life underground.

Q. Do we need to stain the wood?
A. Not really. The wood used is cedar in most of the mailboxes we sell. Cedar is a naturally protective wood. However, If the wood is not stained, it will turn gray. If you want to preserve the color, then staining will be required.

Q. What color stains/paints do you have?
A. Cedar stain is our default stain color. We do provide a few other neutral tone colors as well as black and white. If you want a specific color to match parts of your house, then you would have to provide the stain or paint. Our staining/painting fee ranges from $45 – $80.

Q. What forms of payment do you take?
A. We take Cash, Credit, and Checks. Checks are preferred (payable to Mailbox Doctor). We also send out payment links to your email where you can pay online if you would like.

Q. When do I pay?
A. Payment is required before or at the time of service. If you cannot be home during service, you can leave a check for the installer somewhere or you can pay online or over the phone.

Q. Do you have any guarantees or warranty?
A. We offer a 2 year warranty on the installation. We do not manufacture most of the mailboxes we sell, so we cannot offer a warranty other than what comes with the product.

Q. Do I need to call 811 “Call Before You Dig?”
A. No, we will do that. You may see paint markings or flags in the ground by your mailbox a few days before your service appointment.

Q. Do we tip the installer?
A. Tips are welcome, but are not expected.

Q. Do you give senior or military discounts?
A. We have not in the past, but we now give a 10% off Labor Only discount for Seniors and Military. This means our $100 labor fee is $90. We do not give product discounts.
